The Tough Duck Marine concept came to life when a group of recreational boaters on Canada's West Coast recognized a need and set out to identify a solution. Through both personal experience and study of the industries, the Tough Duck Marine team discovered that recreation industry required a way of protecting their investments with the sizable cost of purchasing recreational equipment today. They were in need of a way to protect their equipment from natural elements like exposure to sun, wind, rain, and dust, and also to provide protection from the damage and deterioration that can occur to sensitive equipment through the hazards of its location, re-location, and storage. With that discovery, the idea for the Tough Duck Marine product line was born.

With 40 years in the boating industry, Dufort Industries Ltd recognized the quality and the benefit of the Tough Duck Marine outboard covers. Dufort acquired Tough Duck Marine in the spring of 2007and the manufacture of the outboard covers and accessories were integrated with the convertible boat tops and covers they manufacture at their modern 14,000 square foot facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Dufort felt the Tough Duck Marine brand was a natural compliment to it expanding universal lines of bimini sun tops and its award-winning Sport Dodger tops. Together they will continue to develop canvas products that will enhance your boating experience.
